This week, in the chat, we had a robust sharing of the homemade and handcrafted gifts many of us will be giving to our loved ones this Christmas. If you haven’t joined the chat yet, I’d recommend checking out that thread (amongst many others).

Finally, winter has arrived. We are having a lovely drenching of snow, the best kind - thick, fat, sticky flakes that build on branches and lend themselves to snowball making and snowman building.

I decided to turn this Saturday’s post over to some images I took around the farm today. All the hustle and bustle of the growing season, now well contained by the purifying snow. We spent today napping, reading, and wrapping presents while we continue to recuperate from our combo-flus. If you’re going to get sick, might as well do it together, right?

These are the mukluks I mentioned in a previous post. These were my mother’s, made by an Indigenous woman in Northern Manitoba, the same year I was born. I had them resoled in the traditional leather and some of the fur repaired. The
